2011

18th-25th June 2011
The Whittingtons, Sneaths & Stradlings plus the children had a wonderful time at Les Places. What a beautiful house-such character & so well equipped-it had everything we needed. The pool was enjoyed by all & that view-wow !! We would love to come back one day-Thank you.
2nd-9th July
The Gordons from Edinburgh & the McVivens from deepest, frozen Argyllshire, Scotland. We have had a great week, defrosting & enjoying the lavender, the pool, the boules & the kitchen. Maggie.
The McViven clan from deepest, darkest Argyll have once again returned to their ancestral & spiritual home-land, the Lot, & it is clear why our forefathers of the auld alliana enjoyed such climate, cuisine & drink, Cend lulle faid....
It was great though I look like a lobster-young master Gordon.
Auberge du Porche in Serignac is very good-good value-worth a visit. Merci ! for a wonderful holiday !!
9th-16th July
The croquet lawn needs levelling & cutting ! Everything else excellant, thank you. Martin Ribathon.
The croquet lawn was perfect, Martin just needs to learn how to play. A wonderful place, we had such an amazing time. The Passion Rouge (restaurant-Mauroux) was excellent. Clare & Reys
Loved all the nooks & crannies throughout the house & all the wooden sculptures. The week has been lovely despite a couple of dodgy days ! Lovely visit to Chateau Bonaguil & Chateau Cayrou where we learnt much about 'growing wine'. Linda & Giles Rigler.
There has been many fantastic days & nights spent here at Les Places. As you can tell from the earlier comments ! But my personal favourite aspect has been the PICON BIERRE !I have left some for you ! Enjoy Rhys the Welshman. ps Sorry I drank all of the Picon......
Loved the house-especially the sculptures & art-as well as the atmospheric barn, pyramid & the glorious garden & natural meadows. A week of bliss-thank you ! Wonderful walks & canoeing on the Lot too. Have to come back.....
The Sacks Clan 05/08/2011  ps The observatory is a must !
23rd July-13th August
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. We-& many of our friend-have had a wonderful time here. We have left some food in the fridge & cupboards in the hope that it will be of some use to you or the next tenants, rather than throwing it away. I hope it isn't an inconvenience. We had a couple of breakages-2 wine glasses & a glass bedside lamp from the bedroom above the kitchen-sorry !
Many thanks & best wishes, Anne & Nigel.
13-20/08/11
A wonderful QUIET location & room enough to escape the teenagers ! Enjoyed the pool & the table-tennis. Thankful for all the fans as the temperature was above 35 degrees outside ! Didn't venture out much, Puy L'Eveque v.quiet, big Leclerc at Montayral easy to find on road to Fumel. Delicious meal at 'Le Vert' at Mauroux. Wonderful for bird-spotting in the evening by the pool. Thank you for taking us at such short notice & making our stay so relaxing & enjoyable. Peter, Susan, Rebecca & Amy Vicary-Smith

2010

July 3-17, 2010
Two marvellous weeks-thank you so much ! The extended family, eleven of all ages, loved  your house & grounds, & the pool & all the wildlife. Special recommendation for the many local activities, including the new Salon Gourmand (ice-cream to die for !) in Puy L'Eveque. The Friday market in Prayssac, Monflanquin & the wines from Chateau Lacapelle-Cabanac-especially their rose sec-Berri-& the red Prestige ! Hic !
We'd love to come again some day, it's been memorable. Lovely soaps-thank you.
All the best Alison & Phil Bowers, Neil & Steph Eilidh, Kyne, John, Anya, Esme, Catriane, & Tali. xx
17/07-24/07
Nous avons passe une tres bonne semaine en famille. Votre maison est spacieuse et a beaucoup de charme et nous avons adore l'environnement- praires, campagne, forets , villages_____
Cordiallement, Familles Villard/Julien.
07/08-21/08
We all have had a lovely time. The house is beautiful & has everything you could need. The kids were hardly out of the pool & have gone from timid little water babies with floats & arm bands to 'full on' water demons-jumping around & swimming lengths & basically terrorising all the adults (flipping them off inflatables & squirting water at them ). Thanks & best wishes. The Britton-Chambers, The Brintworths, The Wheelers & The Woods. xxxxx
21st-28th August
It was murder ! One of us was murdered by a knife wielding granny in Leclerc, whilst another was beaten over the head with a steering wheel in his bedroom. Shocking !! Beware next time you visit a bottle bank, night market or the boulangere for croissants. Also lock away all pepper grinders, noodles, inflatable crocodiles & keep away from the lavender fields. All of which are extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. A good game of murder mystery was had by all. See you soon & have a fab time yourselves.... The gang of 2010

2009

July 2009
What an idyllic setting, the peace just hits you & with the land, it's just perfect ! The kids have had a fantastic time swimming in the pool & playing hide & seek in the fields. The house has so much character & we love the little quirks like the sink in the downstairs wash room. Only the presence of the wasps next to the pool were a slight annoyance. We have visited the English vineyard Domaine du Garinet & even returned to purchase more bottles ! Managed to fit in kayaking at Roque Gagac which was amazing fun, a boat trip around Cahors, Walibi Park & lunch at Puy L'Eveque. A must visit place is Gouffre du Padirac (1hr 30 mins drive) & Rocamador. Thank you Steve & Tessa for letting us live in your wonderful home.
Sarah Brouard (part of 14 Brouards ages 5-74)

7th August
We have had a lovely time, the weather has been perfect & we hardly left the house, as we enjoyed lounging around at home. We have had visits from the toads & a large beetle causing certain people to run inside ! We were disappointed by the roap swing that earlier guests wrote that they enjoyed. It would have been fun for the kids ! * The badminton, table-tennis & swimming pool were used often & kept us entertained though ! The house itself was very spacious & comfortable & was very remote. We enjoyed wine tasting at a local house & brought back many bottles ! (Wine) Overall we have had a wonderful holiday in a lovely house & we regret leaving after a nice time ! The Saxbys xxxx
* Ha Ha ! We knew it had been removed !!!
9th August(our stay from 3pm 6/8/09 to 5.30 9/8/09)
Very sad to be leaving the house & the fab family & friends 'get together'. Our 4 day stay has been far too short & as we fly back to UK the other part of the family arrive. It's been so much fun-all mucking in with food, cooking & game playing. The sun didn't come out too often & the storm was incredible-lots of lightening & thunder. Only down side was the lack of sun the following day. The annexe (La Grange) was very cosy & cool, Bob & family will enjoy. We'll be thinking of you as we fly back. Enjoy the rest of your stay everyone. Fab house, fab pool, fab holiday. Skooie & Jah-Jah.
9th August-14th August
The Moss Family !
Bob(Bozza), Carol(Cazza), Lawrence(Lozza), Emma(Ezza), Adam(Azza), Sophie(Sozza)
The family holiday in this large lovely house was great. Weather was really great, blue sky every day. Enjoyed using the pool & ping-pong (or wiff-waff) table. No complaints from my behalf. The pool at night-very nice ! Lovely sky with stars. Only left the house once as it was perfect just chillin at the house.
Lots of 'creme du solait? (sun cream ) needed as got quite burnt.
Lovely stay & don't want to leave.
The Mosses Family (Mozzas!)
Fazackerley Family. Where do we start ? What a fantastic quiet place to relax & enjoy a superb holiday. We have loved the pool, the Boules & the table tennis. Each evening we eagerly awaited the arrival of the two toads on the patio & the gentle 'whoo' of the owl. (A Scops Owl apparently). Visited both the vineyards recommended by Steve & Tessa (Domaine du Garinet-visited before anyway) & at Bru (Nosiere) very friendly. We enjoyed night swims to the noise of crickets & Boules in the sunset. We & our friends & family had a superb celebration here over the fortnight & will hopefully come again. Thank you to Steve & Tessa for lending us your special place.
Sara, Stephen, Rebecca, Juliet, Kathryn & Will
15th-29th August
Thanks for a fabulous place to enjoy our holiday. We all loved it, mainly the feel of the place-very peaceful...even with children in it! Loved the wildlife (toads, frog, snake, owls, buzzards) & the pool , so much, we didn't get to do much else. All went far too quickly, but we leave refreshed. Thanks & good luck with everything. Chris, Liz, Martha, Noah, Ashid, Jordon, Jess, Angel.
ps Can we heartily recommend the hazelnuts from the tree by the pool. We made hazelnut shortbread with them from a recipe in one of the kitchen cook books.....fab !
I really enjoyed this holiday, it was brilliant. I will miss the toad. Sometimes I sit with my mum & look at the stars. Your garden was a wonderful place to play in. I want to come here when I'm older. I really enjoyed our stay. Good luck, Martha xxx

Market at Libos very goo. Horse riding just up the hill. Wear good clothing ! Kyaking-Anglaros, beautiful, peaceful & great fun. Good value for money. Creperie at Puy L'Eveque 'Le Pigeonnier' good for everyone & good value. Les Gonies, 2 kms away, excellent food & greta value BBQ-all home grown produce. Dutch owners, excellent English. We all enjoyed this area, brilliant night skies with brilliant hot days. The water park at Souillac (Quercyland) excellent value for money-VERY HOT-all day. Great slides & pool. 2004

10th-24th July
Wonderfully spacious house & gite with total privacy-absolute get away from pressures. Weather has been mixed but have been able to swim & sunbathe every day. Storms were mighty impressive. Have been visited, both on the terrace & by the pool by a very friendly, greedy thrush- hope whoever comes next enjoys this as much as we have. Towards the end of the holiday it has been very hot & pool has been much used. Shop in Serignac is great - bread wonderful. The Intermarche just before Fumel is very good-much better than the Leclerc. Local restaurants are limited & I would not advise visiting 'Les Voisins', unless 1, you are prepared to DIY some, not particularly good BBQ scraps, 2, love mixing with Dutch people & 3, don't mind about value for money. Got up too late to visit Libos market but Friday market in Prayssac is very good. Puy L'Eveque is a waste of time. We have had 'Astronomic Gastronomic experiences on the terrace with up to 10 people, made so easy by the brilliant selection of cooking equipment-if only all holiday lets were like this !
Tonight is our last night & we're sitting by the pool watching the swallows dive for a drink, circles in the water & beautiful evening, sunlight over the lavender ! The pool is as purple as the lavender-must be the gin !
Thank you Steve & Tessa for a wonderful time .
Robin & Heather Moore, friends & family.
24/07/04-31/07/04
The pictures of this place do not do it any justice. We have had a fantastic week here, & wish it could have been longer. We would recommend, Chez Henri for dinner -the food & service was fantastic. Make sure you book canoeing & horse riding early to avoid disappointment. The wine-tasteing is also highly recommended. Mostly though, we have enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week, with great weather-very grateful for the 'horizonless' pool. Thank you so much for letting us stay, I suspect we will be back. Sally Birghenough, 26.
Beautiful sense of solitude, with enough for anyone to have their own kind of holiday. Cicadas & butterflies, swallows & deer. Rolls of hay, lavender & ivy ! A Wonderful welcome to the South of France ! Ian Sandes, 31.
So much thought, care & love has gone into putting this house together that it is a true pleasure to stay here. The pool esp. so fantastic. Phil Denison 10 (?)
Love all the art & literature around. An Amazing week- Sue Renifol (21) He he.....
Truely, truely jealous of the life style-it's a set up to be proud of. The pool at night with the vaguely space aged feel was missing just one thing-an enormous plasma screen to watch some of newest Dirk Diggler movies. Kai Duggal , 24.
This is the most amazing place/house I've ever stayed in ! "Ansolutely fantastic" is the most appropriate way to describe it ! Had the best week, wish we were here for longer.....next time 2 weeks definitely ! Came all the way from Sydney, Oz to join family & friends which is a long way but worth the travelling time, Cheers Caroline Penison 32 xxx
24th July-1st August
Brilliant for camping in the garden. Very good rented bikes from Vire-sur-Lot.
This place has everything-beautiful house & setting, biking, horses, canoeing & fantastic blues down in Touzac... Bikes were really useful, even just nipping to Serignac for the fresh morning bread-just watch out for the hills....
Wonderful, relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings, & the weather was perfect- who could ask for more ! Joan Saunders.
1st-14th August
4 Adults, 6 children  aged between 2-8 years old. During a wonderful 2 weeks we have loved the markets-Puy L'Eveque & Prayssac, swimming in the lake near Tournon, a delicious dinner in the square at Tournon where children of all ages rose to the occasion. A kind waitress opened wide doors onto the cobbled street enabling the children to play between courses. Truely delicious food.
Cahors was interesting & well worth a visit, on a slightly cloudy day. I can't fault the house-it is superbly finished & appointed, thanks to Steve & Tessa for entrusting us with their beautiful house. Lizzie Pickering, Oxfordshire.
I really enjoyed my stay hear & I loved the fireworks, they were amusing. I also enjoyed going to restaurants & staying up late. Arthur nearly 9.
I like going to the restaurant with the grown ups & I like staying up late. Mary 5.
I liked the swimming pool. And the fireworks were great. The cottage I loved it was so nice. I really enjoyed the pyramid I really enjoyed it especially staying up late. Ned age 7.
Thanks very much, Steve & Tessa. We have had a wonderful holiday here.
Gompertz family.
I loved swimming, Emily age 5.
Puy L'Eveque fete & fireworks were fantastic, as were the restaurants we found (don't believe previous comments !) All in all one of the best holidays ever. Pickering family.
I loved swimming, food, fireworks, going to the pyramid & playing in the garden. Cameron aged 8.

Fantastic break away from it all-house & grounds beautiful & I loved the kitchen. The wildlife great fun to watch especially the bats & the wild cats. Thank you very much Steve & Tessa for making our stay so relaxed, with your relaxed & helpful attitude. Adine Schronkel
Superb house & pool. If you want me back for further irrigation duties I would be very happy to oblige ! The Golden Oreales, Deer, Wild cat, Toads, Woodpeckers et al, kept me entertained. The only problem is we've got to return to Blighty.
Thanks Steve & Tessa, Pete Keonig

I've really enjoyed my holiday here. The pool, villa, tyre swing & surroundings are great & there's been lots to do ! The weather was lovely too. Hope to come back. Thank you very much !
Vicky Kerridge
I sleept in Les Places, the beds were lovely. But my favourite thig was the pool. On all of my holidays to France this pool is the best ! I thought the tyre swing looked a bit week so I didn't go on it. I didn't get to explore the hole 50 acres but I had a little look. It's lovely here at Les Places-everyone should come here. Thanks for letting us stay ! From Hannah Hammond-Bye !! (age 8)
Tessa & Steve
Fantastic place, I just loved it. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for a really great holiday. The villa & pool are both amazing & have helped to make the holiday very relaxing & enjoyable.   Kirsty

16th-30th August

Thank you sooooo much for letting us use your beautiful house. It is perfect. Enough said. Best wishes, Jennie King.

I loved staying at your house, it's really nice, especially the pool. There have also been some really nice birds around here. My favourite was a little owl that we saw one night on the window ledge outside. Claire Hughes

20th-27th July. We have had a wonderful time here, enjoying the special character of the house, the magnificent surroundings & of course, the pool. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped & we have had a great time cooking the local produce. The village shop in Serignac is highly recommended. The caves at Padirac are well worth a visit. Our only regret-we only have a week here !!   Roger, Jane, Sarah, Fiona & Robert
27th July-3rd August. We've enjoyed the sun, the pool, the space ! The children have all loved the grounds & the den to play in. They've also read their way through a lot of the books you kindly made available. One small quibble-with nine here we could have done with more cutlery, especially knives. We kept having to raid the dishwasher for them. We would be more than happy to recommend Les Places to our friends & would love to come again. Trish, Richard, Chris & Emma Jones.
